Is your social media status now more important than your actual job?

In many Indian cities, a LinkedIn title or an Instagram bio matters more than the actual work being done. People are quitting stable careers to chase 'hustle culture' aesthetics or staying in toxic jobs just to keep the title looking impressive on their profile. This creates a fake reality where perception is valued over skill or happiness. Critics argue this is pure vanity that breaks the economy, while supporters say personal branding is the only currency that matters in the digital age.
